MICHAEL YORK narrates

"A TALE OF TWO CITIES"
The Theatrical Musical Event
Premiering on NJN Public Television

British-born actor Michael York will appear as narrator of a staged concert performance of the Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Musical nominee "A Tale of Two Cities" to be Broadcast Nationally on Public Television beginning on Thanksgiving Day November 26, 2009 at 9pm.

Michael York's eclectic 50-year career includes varied roles in the classic movies "Cabaret" and "Logan's Run" as well as the role of "Basil Exposition" in all three of the blockbuster "Austin Powers" films; appearances on HBO's cult comedy series "Curb Your Enthusiasm"; numerous Broadway credits and the role of King Arthur in the recent national tour of "Camelot."

The concert was filmed this summer at Theater Royal Brighton, England and the television program will feature Michael York narrating segments filmed on location in London and Paris.  Mr. York will also appear onstage for the final dramatic moments of the program.

WGBH-Boston, the home of Public Television favorites "Evening at Pops," "Masterpiece Theater," "Nova" "Mystery" and “Antiques Road Show,” will be the Presenting Station for the TV musical event based on the great Charles Dickens novel of the same name.

A DVD of the concert production and accompanying international studio cast album CD of the musical will be available during the pledge program. The television program will be distributed internationally in 2010.  The televised concert broadcast has Book, Music and Lyrics by Jill Santoriello and will feature a new song "Never Say Goodbye," written exclusively for the concert event, with music by Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn ("Jekyll and Hyde") and lyrics by Santoriello.

The International Studio Cast Album was recorded at London's legendary Sphere Studios, home to the Rolling Stones and many other artists, and will feature 80 minutes of music with additional songs from the Broadway show.

Lucinda Dickens Hawksley, the great granddaughter of the novelist, served as the project’s historical advisor and is interviewed by Michael York at London’s Charles Dickens Museum in a special added feature for the Pledge Program DVD.

Ron Sharpe and Barbra Russell, original Broadway producers of "A Tale of Two Cities," are Executive Producers of the television program along with Emmy-nominated Executive Producer Bruce Marcus of Jersey Wooly Productions.  In 2008, Jersey Wooly Productions produced the television documentary "Finding Billy Elliot" the story of the casting search for the lead role for the Broadway hit musical "Billy Elliot.”  Joe Locarro is the Broadcast Director and Editor.  Locarro also previously served as director, producer and editor of “Finding Billy Elliot” for WNET.

2009 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Dickens' classic novel.  The beloved story concerns the love triangle of young beauty Lucie Manette, French aristocrat Charles Darnay and drunken cynic Sydney Carton - all caught in the clutches of the bloody French Revolution.  The novel's first sentence "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" is arguably the most famous opening line in the history of literature.

“A Tale of Two Cities” made its world premiere at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida and played on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.  The Broadway production received multiple award nominations from the Outer Critics Circle, the Drama Desk and the Drama League.  Samuel French Ltd. licenses the stock and amateur performing rights for the theatrical production and will publish an Acting Edition of the script in the coming months. www.samuelfrench.com  The book of Piano/Vocal Selections will be released by Alfred Publishing in December.  www.alfredpublishing.com  For more information about the musical "A Tale of Two Cities" and to check Broadcast times please visit the website:  www.talemusical.com

The cast for "A Tale of Two Cities In Concert" will feature members of the original Broadway cast including the award winning James Barbour (Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominee for his acclaimed role as Sydney Carton).  Natalie Toro (Madame Defarge), Brandi Burkhardt (Lucie Manette) and Kevin Earley (Ernest DeFarge) will reprise their Broadway roles.  Other veteran Broadway performers featured are J. Mark McVey (Dr. Alexandre Manette) and Ed Dixon (John Barsad).  The international cast members include BAFTA nominated British actress Rosemary Leach as Miss Pross, Simon Thomas as Charles Darnay ("Marguerite" in the West End) and Olivier Award winner Paul Baker ("Taboo," "Napoleon" in the West End) as the Marquis St Evremonde.  Stage direction is by Jack Cummings III, Artistic Director of New York City’s Transport Group.

The Musical Director for the concert is Michael Reed, the original musical director of the West End production of "Phantom of the Opera."  He conducts an orchestra of 32 and the musical's cast of 35.  Newly enhanced orchestrations are provided by Drama Desk nominated Orchestrator and Producer Edward B. Kessel.

An interesting fact:  The Theater Royal in Brighton, where "A Tale of Two Cities – In Concert" was filmed, was built in 1806 and was frequently visited by Charles Dickens throughout his lifetime.

"I am thrilled and honored to serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2009 Hollywood Christmas Parade," Lucci said in a statement. "I am so happy that this year's parade will be telecast for the first time ever as a two-hour primetime television event, spreading holiday cheer and happiness to Americans across the country. The Hollywood Christmas Parade is for children and families, both of whom are very important to me in my personal life."  (The parade takes place on Nov. 29 in Hollywood and will be taped for broadcast on Dec. 10 and Dec. 24 on MyNetworkTV. Congratulations to Alicia Minshew and her husband Richie Herschenfeld who welcomed daughter Willow Lenora Herschenfeld — the baby's middle name honors Minshew's mother, Lenore — at 6:42 a.m. on November 4th. The new addition weighed in at 5 lbs., 2 oz.

Eva La Rue has been approached about returning to AMC for the 40th Anniversary episodes as Dr. Maria Santos Grey, the role she played from 1993 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2005.  According to her rep, the actress would love to make a return engagement to her Pine Valley, if AMC can work scheduling out with her primetime show CSI: MIAMI.

Leven Rambin (ex-Lily/Ava) has landed a recurring role on the hit ABC drama Grey's Anatomy and will begin airing later this year.

On November 6, BethAnn Bonner (who most recently played the role of Natasha on GL but is best known for her run as OLTL's Talia) will make her AMC debut in the recurring role of Kat, who will figure into Kendall and Aidan's storyline.

Rebecca Budig is returning to AMC as Greenlee Smythe, who was presumed dead last February when Kendall ran Greenlee's motorcycle off the road. No first airdate was yet available for the actress, but she will shoot scenes in New York before the show moves to Los Angeles in January.

Just announced on Live with Regis and Kelly, Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos will be returning to Pine Valley for AMC's 40th Anniversary! AMC celebrates that anniversary on January 5, 2010.

ALL MY CHILDREN CAST MEMBERS CONFIRMED TO TAPE IN LOS ANGELES

SUSAN LUCCI, CAMERON MATHISON AND MICHAEL E. KNIGHT ARE AMONG THOSE CONFIRMED TO BEGIN TAPING "ALL MY CHILDREN" IN LOS ANGELES IN JANUARY 2010

In August 2009, it was announced by Brian Frons president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television, that the Emmy Award-winning daytime drama ALL MY CHILDREN will move production from New York City to Los Angeles, California. The final date of production in New York is December 11th.

With production set to resume in Los Angeles on January 4th, 2010, the following contracted cast members are confirmed to begin taping at the Andrita Studios in Los Angeles: Brittany Allen, David Canary, Bobbie Eakes, Melissa Claire Egan, Stephanie Gatschet, Ricky Paull Goldin, Vincent Irizarry, Michael E. Knight, Susan Lucci, Jamie Luner, Adam Mayfield, JR Martinez, Cameron Mathison, Debbi Morgan, Cornelius Smith, Jr., Denise Vasi, Darnell Williams and Jacob Young.

Ray MacDonnell has announced that he will be retiring. We wish him well and our heartfelt congratulations. Thorsten Kaye will not be relocating to Los Angeles, and Alicia Minshew will be on maternity leave beginning November 2009. She will continue to appear on air through the month of December. Appearances by actors on recurring status will be determined by storyline needs and availability.

ALL MY CHILDREN's new, larger facility at Andrita Studios will give the show the largest production footprint of any of the ABC soaps. The site is twice the size of ALL MY CHILDREN's current New York home and contains two stages, which will enable production to keep more standing sets, thereby reducing transportation, set-up, knock-down and storage costs. The new facility will also allow for series production to immediately transition from Standard Definition to High Definition.

ALL MY CHILDREN will celebrate its 40th Anniversary on January 5, 2010. The program has successfully maintained its popularity and continues to be one of daytime's most compelling dramas. ALL MY CHILDREN took home the 1998 Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, the third time the show received this top honor, having also garnered the award in 1994 and 1992. In 2004 the show also received its third consecutive Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Writing, its third Writers Guild Award and its fourth GLAAD Media Award in March 2007

Created by Agnes Nixon, ALL MY CHILDREN premiered on the ABC Television Network on January 5, 1970, as a half-hour show; seven years later it expanded to an hour. Julie Hanan Carruthers is executive producer and Charles Pratt, Jr. is head writer. ALL MY CHILDREN is currently produced in New York and airs MONDAY-FRIDAY (1:00-2:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
